No trip to the island is complete without trying their unique traditional dishes that complement the coastal environ.

Here are the top ten things to eat in Bora Bora :

  2. Mahi-Mahi – A locally caught fish (commonly referred to as Dorado) possessing a firm texture and a mildly sweet taste, often pan-fried or grilled, enhancing natural flavors and aromas of the briny Indian Ocean.
  3. Ika Mata – Fresh Reef fish marinated in a coconut-milk-based salad with lime, onions, and diced tomatoes. Similar in flavor to Poisson cru but display ing a rawness to the salad paired with tomave, a crisp Polynesian style baguette.

As my exhilarating trip to Bora Bora, French Polynesia came to a close, I realized how utterly enchanted I was by this mystical paradise. Not only did I uncover astounding gastronomical dishes that fused typical Polynesian infusions, but I was also taken aback by the charm of their culture, customs, and friendly populace. A week spent exploring the azure lagoon and being serenaded by live performances of fellas swaying to the rhythm of acoustic melodies was indeed a life-altering experience.

From the sublime shores of Matira Beach to the high points of Mount Pahia, the diverse range of Bora Bora's attractions kept me occupied throughout. The vibrant coral reefs, teeming with tropical fish and vibrant splashes of color, beckoned me to dive-in, witness stunning exotic marine life, and feel a different world submerged in soothing waters. I never knew I could be awestruck by coral formations before!

As I reflect upon my experiences, the recollection is filled with an extraordinary sense of astonishment and nostalgia recreating moments like how smooth the black pearl farming processes are or savoring grilled Mahi-Mahi in Tarō restaurants in Maeva Uru. The ever-present meticulous care of nature has created a paradisiacal tourism industry that transformed my vacation into genuine wanderlust. Bora Bora, unarguably, casts a spell that has made me want to never leave - so next time surely finds a sweet return.
